LP (Long Play) Album Charts Statistics and Trivia According to The Official Charts Company, the official British albums chart is the Melody Maker chart from 8th November 1958 to March 1960 (although the Record Mirror published charts from 28th July 1956); the Record Retailer chart from 1960 to 1969 and the Official UK Albums Chart from 1969 on. Some albums were issued in both stereo and mono. The chart rating treated both as the same version although they had different catalogue numbers. For statistical purposes here, if no chart was issued for a particular week the previous week's positions have been used. Also, all statistics are calculated from the Saturday of the week in which the particular chart was published. British Record Chart History Sixties Trivia, Quizzes and Games |
